AFP won several awards at the 25th Human Rights Press Awards

AFP’s coverage of the Covid pandemic, the trafficking of Rohingya refugees and pro-democracy protests in Thailand was recognised with five awards at the 25th edition of the annual Human Rights Press Awards, jointly organized by Amnesty International Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Journalists Association.

Migrant report wins AFP another Prix Varenne 2020

AFP journalist Clément Melki has been awarded the Young Journalist Prize in the National Daily Press category of the Prix Varenne for his report entitled "God, Water and Us: When Migrants Cross the Channel". The report was published by several media including Libération, Médiapart and La Croix. In February, two other AFP journalists received awards in the Prix Varenne, Kenzo Tribouillard (National Press Prize) and Léo Malafaia (the International Prize).

The Guardian Names AFP’s Hector Retamal Agency Photographer of the Year

The British daily notably praised the Shanghai-based Chilean photographer for his coverage of the Wuhan crisis, the city where the first cases of Covid-19 were detected. He has made trips to the Chinese megalopolis all throughout 2020, most recently documenting its return to life.
